White and light grey plastics turn brown-yellow with time.\u00a0This is most seen in 80s computers.<\/p>\n<p>Ok, so I learnt how to apply a technique called retrobrighting to this plastics thanks to this video by The 8-bit guy and decided to try:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VU7vXMezW_I\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After trying with some of my beloved walkmans, I tried with this. So I moved one and tried with my smaller kid&#8217;s walkman, a very simple Panasonic:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0530.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3300\" src=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0530-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"Panasonic walkman yellowed\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0530-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0530.jpg 800w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0530-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_0530-580x435.jpg 580w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What you need is hydrogen peroxide cream like this. I bought it in a hair product store. Looks that it&#8217;s used for colorize the hair:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-04.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3304\" src=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-04-375x500.jpg\" alt=\"Retrobrighting 04\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-04-375x500.jpg 375w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-04-450x600.jpg 450w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-04-580x773.jpg 580w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-04.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You have to cover it with cream, with your hands. Then cover it with a thin plastic film and let it under direct sunlight for some hours. For this I dissasembled it, removed the mechanics and electronics:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-03.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3303\" src=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-03-500x375.jpg\" alt=\"Retrobrighting 03\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-03-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-03.jpg 800w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-03-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/walkman-archive.com\/wa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Retrobrighting-03-580x435.jpg 580w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, remove the plastic film and clean with water.
